The United States Civilization Preservation Force was formed during the winter of 2033 as a result of the American Preservation Act.
The American Preservation Act reorganized the federal government, agencies, and departments following World War III.
The USCPF represented a complete redesign of the United States military. Several branches were merged, condensed, or disbanded in order to centralize control and consolidate resources.
ORIGINAL ORGANIZATION
The USCPF originally consisted of two primary branches:
- USCPF Army
- USCPF Naval Service
The former United States Air Force and United States Space Force were disbanded and their aviation capabilities were consolidated into the USCPF Army Aviation Service.
The United States Coast Guard was incorporated into the Naval Service, while the Marine Corps was reorganized as the USCPF Marine Corps under the Department of the Navy.
The Eastern USCPF was formed during the winter of 2033 using surviving military installations, FEMA emergency radio towers, and remaining military transmitters.
Operations during the Nuclear Winter were slow and extremely difficult. Following the retreat of the snow and ash, large areas of the eastern United States became dusty and irradiated environments.
As conditions improved, the Eastern USCPF began advancing and industrializing, preparing for a new era of military operations.
The Eastern USCPF would eventually become involved in large-scale conflicts with the CDF and Brazil.

The Western USCPF formed from surviving United States military installations across the western United States.
The Western USCPF struggled to survive across the vast and largely empty western territories.
The defeat of Western forces at Lake Mead demonstrated the necessity of maintaining a reliable supply of troops and equipment from the eastern territories.
Eventually, the Western USCPF secured several important cities, infrastructure networks, and military outposts.
These gains eventually enabled expeditions to Hawaii and Alaska.
During the late 2090s, the Western USCPF began preparing for a new conflict with the CDF while the Eastern USCPF fought the PRT and MEB.
